British University Snowsports Council

The British University Snowsports Council is run by students, for students.

Each year a new organising committee takes over the role of running BUSC in June. The 2008/9 committee are made up of past and present Loughborough University students; Alex Collins (Chair), Joe Murrow (Competitions), Chris Hazeldine (Finance), Giles Humphries (Entertainments), Joe Munro (Sponsorship & Head Rep) & Phil Harris (Competitions Consultant).

BUSCWith the help of race officials & reps, we run four events through the year:

Summer Session – a small (40-50 person) event held in July, which involves summer skiing, afternoon activities and evening entertainment.

British University Dryslope Champs (BUDS) – held at Midlothian Ski Centre, is the first competitive event of the BUSC year and includes Ski & Board racing & freestyle.  BUDS 2008 saw the largest Slalom ski race with over 600 competitors taking part- from the No. 1 UK male seed (Ben Hall) to would-be recreational skiers competing in their first ever ski race!

BUSCBritish University Indoor SnowSport Championships (BUISC) is a series of qualifying events during February held at Braehead, Milton Keynes & Castleford, with the final (combined with charity fund-raising event (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SITE)) held on March 4th at Castleford.  Over 800 students are expected to attend the final with each University ‘charity team’ expected to raise over £600 each.

BUSCThe Main Event involves a week of racing and freestyle competitions in a European ski resort, with over 500 competitors and 2000 holiday makers expected each year.  This year the BUSC Main Event will be held in Alpe D’huez on the 28th March – 4th April.
